CROWDFUNDING - WE TRIED SOMETHING NEW... finish our film. The first half of our project was financed through a grant from the “Zukunftsfonds der Republik Österreich” as well as through our own resources. For the budget of the second half of the film, we got some money from the Federal Ministry for Education, Arts and Culture, but we also raised funds through crowdfunding. If you don’t know what crowdfunding is, you can find the following definition on Wikipedia: “Crowdfunding describes the collective effort of individuals who network and pool their resources, usually via the Internet, to support efforts initiated by other people or organizations.”

With crowdfunding everyone can support the project and become a part of it! You can read more about our goals and why you should support this project below. Or visit us on STARTNEXT

Refugees are people that need our help. Here is an opportunity for you to give them a voice. As artists, we are grasping an opportunity to present a topic that is taboo in our society to a wide audience. It remains a gruesome truth that information, goods and money can cross borders without difficulty – but people can’t. With SNOWDROP we would like to make people aware of this dreadful predicament and bring about a change in mindset. Please help us! We hope you will support us.

SNOWDROP tells the story of refugees’ unfortunate fates from a very personal perspective. In our reality refugees often only seem to exist in the form of numbers and statistics. Fact is, according to the UNHCR, approximately 42,5 million people fled from their countries in 2011. A number so staggering, one might give up on thinking of being able to do something about it as a single person. Our goal is to make this seemingly impossible number visible, bring life to these statistics and give refugees a face and a voice. The story of “Snowdrop” is based on detailed research and tells of realistic fates. Refugees are people like you and me, trapped in an often life-threatening situation, they were born into. And no one can foresee what political destiny might threaten his or her lives in the future.

This film will be made to give refugees a voice and counter the increasing force with which they are made invisible to us. The money we raise will be used to complete this film and present it to a wide audience to create awareness. We are also planning to cooperate with different NGOs on the subject.

We want SNOWDROP to be shown at many national and international festivals, but also at various events that relate to the issue. We are planning to have it broadcast on TV and have it used for educational purposes. So, please support us!

Your money will make it possible to finish this film. Some scenes have been shot already. The scenes playing at the Ukrainian-Slovakian border still need to be filmed. We guarantee you that every cent of your support will be used for the making of this film. Your contributions will cover part of the costs for the second half of the project (technical equipment, location fees, make-up, costumes and props, insurances, rights and fees, transport, heating and caterings on-site).

Beyond that, we need financial aid for post-production (cut, colour matching, title graphic, sound design, sound mixing and music). The remaining costs will be covered by governmental funding agencies, private sponsors and our own resources.

Should we not be able to reach the sum we need, you will receive a full refund. We hope this will not have to be the case, so please support us.
